The reality in agriculture and agribusiness
Agribusiness in Ghana operates across dispersed smallholder networks where connectivity is poor, literacy varies, and the primary device is a basic phone. Export markets — cocoa above all, and increasingly horticulture — impose traceability and due diligence requirements, with the EU Deforestation Regulation demanding farm-level origin data that many supply chains cannot currently produce. Aggregators hold farmer relationships in field officers' heads and paper records, which makes both traceability and finance difficult.
